Star Alliance

The Star Alliance network is the leading global network of airlines in terms of number of daily flights, destinations and countries served, and in terms of number of member airlines. It was founded in 1997 as first genuinely global alliance by Air Canada, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, THAI, and United in order to offer accessibility and a pleasant traveling experience to customers around the world. The portfolio of services is impressive: nowadays, the association boasts 28 member airlines, which transport over 603 million passengers with 4,023 aircraft every year. A total of 1,160 airports in 181 countries are served, daily flights amount to 21,000. The network is characterised by its global reach and service and offers first-class standards of convenience no matter where passengers travel. In order to join the alliance, every airline must therefore meet the highest standards that exist in the industry for customer service, safety, and technological infrastructure.
