At an age when others are still busy baking cakes of sand, Stefan Schiel developed his first logos. Only marginally later, the economic engineer-to-be discovered his passion for mathematics and strategic planning. And while he was still in the process of writing his doctoral thesis on brand management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, his road towards becoming a renowned brand professional was not only mapped out, but had already been taken.
Elementary
When does the “part-time university lecturer“ feel entirely in his element? When he can dig into brand core development, positioning, brand architecture, or communication strategies – which, needless to say, he develops himself with his own hands, or rather his own mind. Consideration of state-of-the-art scientific findings always included.
Caution, contagious!
These days, Stefan Schiel, formerly ambitious handball player and generally keen sportsman, scores through passion and reasoning. Listening to him is tantamount to being fully convinced for ever after that brand success can be planned. Because nobody can escape the magnetic force exercised by his well-founded concepts. And because the marketmind board member´s passion for brilliant solutions is contagious. But as declared lateral thinker and innovator, Stefan Schiel also puts those around him in danger. For instance, in the danger of having to question existing beliefs and of summoning the courage to enter new territory.
Sport meets pedagogy. A perfect match.
In his extracurricular life, Stefan Schiel teaches interested learners how they in turn can teach their children to ski. If the slope has turned green again and the number of children´s skiing instructors has grown, if not snowballed, Stefan Schiel changes into the saddle. But not on horseback, because among Vienna´s horse-drawn carriages, one wishes it would smell more of bicycles. So the bicycle it is.
Cape of Postponed Hope
“Cape Town“ is the only project that Stefan has not tackled immediately. But the date has been fixed for years. “Later, when there will be time.” He will take along his family and two things that belong to him like the beat of his heart: his old VW bus and the love of photography. By the way, a love which for years he has shared with another marketminder – with Christian Bosch.
